Celebrating the AMG GT’s expansion into four-door coupe territory, Mercedes-AMG is releasing a special launch edition of the sedan. Dubbed the AMG GT 63 S Edition 1, the name doesn’t exactly roll off the tongue like AMG GT R, but that name means your new four-door AMG GT will come with some extra goodies. While those goodies are mostly extra badging inside and out, there are other helpful parts of the package, like a bigger front splitter with the aero package, graphite gray paint, AMG stripes and 21-inch wheels.
The Edition 1 upgrades bleed into the interior with matte carbon-fiber trim, yellow seatbelts, illuminated doorsills, yellow contrast stitching on the magma gray and black leather seats and special floor mats.
Of course, the Edition 1 is found only on the 63 S models of the AMG GT 4-Door Coupe, which means you’ll have a turbocharged 4.0-liter V8 under the hood making 630 hp and 664 lb-ft of torque. That’s good enough to get you from a standing start to 60 mph in around 3.1 seconds, and you’ll eventually max this special AMG GT 4-Door Coupe out at 195 mph. That should help get the kids to school on time and keep you from missing your first meeting.
There’s no word on how much this will cost, but if you’re hankering for a four-door version of the AMG GT — keep your eyes pointed at your Merc dealer early next year. These are supposed to hit the market in 2019.
