Mercedes-Benz’s C-Class has only just undergone its mid-cycle update for 2019 but prototypes for the next-generation model are already out testing. The W206 C-Class prototype may also be a brand new plug-in hybrid model, with the current generation already being a rare member of the diesel-electric family. This theory is supported by the presence of a grille opening on the car. The efficiency of the 2021 range will be helped overall by a slightly lower overall weight, helped by increased use of aluminum constriction.

The C-Class is probably the most offered automobile by Mercedes in America. As we noted in our first-drive, Mercedes chose not to radically restyle the C-Class for 2019 because its buyers continue to heap praise on the sedan’s visuals. Sure, there are niceties like standard 1156 led bulb for headlight tucked away in the update to this four-year-old body, but by and large, buyers will be hard-pressed to point out all the changes made for this year.

In 1963, the company cemented its reputation as the home of automotive luxury with the launch of the Mercedes-Benz 600. The elegant, luxurious sedan was also available as a limousine and featured an ahead-of-its-time air suspension system and a V8 engine that boasted 300 horsepower. The decade also saw the launch of the Mercedes-Benz 300 SEL 6.3. This full-size sedan went from zero to 60 in under seven seconds, distinguishing itself as the quickest luxury car is its day.

The interior design will be bew for Mercedes, with a large infotainment screen positioned in the center stack and another screen serving as the instrument cluster. You’ll notice that the updated 2019 C-Class missed out on Mercedes’ latest infotainment system known as MBUX , but the latest version of the system will appear on the new C-Class. It operates much like a smartphone‘s operating system and also uses natural speech to control many vehicle functions.

The 2019 Mercedes-Benz E-Class Sedan lineup gives drivers the power to personalize their vehicle to fit their own unique tastes. With nine exterior colors and over 15 different interior upholstery options, this Mercedes-Benz can be crafted to fit any style. Early in 2021, Mercedes will unleash the new C-class, first as a sedan and then later in the year as a station wagon. The coupe and convertible will return, as well, but there will be no additions to the range like the proposed shooting-brake-style CLT. Mild hybrid powertrains are standard and the plug-ins will sport emissions-free ranges of up to 60 miles, but the V-8 will reportedly be phased out in AMG models. Based on the modular MRA rear-wheel-drive architecture, the future C-class may well be the last of its kind. Why? Because Mercedes has already kicked off the first of two convergence programs designed to eventually fuse its internal-combustion, fully electric, and plug-in-hybrid vehicle lines into one lineup that will span from A-class to S-class on the car side and from the GLA-class to the GLS-class on the SUV side.
