Mercedes also has retuned the C300’s over-the-road behavior to be closer to those larger coupes’ comfortable, luxurious comportments. On the back, we can see that the taillights are bigger and that they’re positioned closer to one another. The new cabriolet system makes it so easy to go back and forward from open to close. Find out if the new 2019 Mercedes Benz C300 4Matic coupe takes a step forward in our first-drive review.
It’s up 14 horsepower over the previous one, now placing out 255 horsepower and 273 pound-feet of torque. The output is up to 255 horsepower and 273 pound-feet of torque, a power bump of 14 hp over the outgoing model’s four-banger. Part of the horsepower increase comes from how the new twin-scroll turbocharger gets its twist on. It’s also technically possible for the car’s cameras to record the incident, though current privacy laws prevent this part of the feature from being activated.
Standard Display Features
The standard display is 7.0 inches, but buyers can opt for a larger 10.25-inch display, neither of which are touch-capable. Other options include heated and cooled front seats, a heated steering wheel, panorama roof and head-up display. It replaces the sedate and standard Premium Package aesthetics with five twin-spoke AMG 19-inch alloys, body kit and diamond-patterned grille outside for an exceedingly handsome ‘dignified sports’ look, with the firmer sports suspension, specific brake discs and steering tweaks hidden underneath.
The former includes the Black Ash open-pore wood, aluminum trim and genuine leather upholstery (which replaces artificial leather in the C200). Inside, there’s a flat-bottom AMG-look wheel, alloy pedal set, sport seats with ‘Black AMG leather’, black ash/aluminum trim, AMG mats, tire pressure monitoring, an analog clock in the dash fascia… Lots of window dressing, then, for the modest splurge. The new digital instrument panel and large infotainment screen are standard and replace an analog dashboard and smaller screen. The image and emotional appeal that comes from owning a luxury car can account for a large part of the price premium over a more mainstream offering.
Steering Wheel New Function
The leather steering wheel has increased functionality with buttons that can be controlled by touch, and also respond to a swipe, like a smartphone. The car is the only 2019 Mercedes Benz C300 4Matic trim level that can be had with a cool two-tone exterior color scheme. The C300 sports car’s powertrain is brought over from the car: A 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder that produces 241 horsepower, as well as 273 pound-feet of torque, could be mated to either back- or all-wheel-drive.
Upgraded Electronics Architecture
An improved electronics architecture helps the 2019 C-class support improved active-safety features, including an automatic lane-change feature and a smarter radar-based cruise control system. An upgraded electronics architecture helps the C-class support improved active-safety features, including an automatic lane-change feature and a smarter radar-based cruise control system. Now, it’s going to feature the great combination of modern and vintage style. It’s bigger now, too, with the standard screen measuring 7.0 inches and the upgraded display clocking in at 10.3 inches. That can be paired with a 10.25-inch central infotainment screen that’s operated by a steering-wheel touchpad in addition to the center-console scroll wheel and touchpad you got before.
In the C300, the new Mercedes turbocharged 2.0-liter inline-four produces 255 horsepower—14 more ponies than before—and 273 lb-ft of torque. The C300’s new 2.0-liter turbo-four is again mated to a nine-speed automatic transmission, but horsepower is bumped to 255 hp. 46,940 window sticker, which is way extra palatable than my tester’s E-Class-adjacent price ticket. Down to brass tacks, Audi A4 and BMW 3 Series are the C300’s largest and brightest opponents.
